The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award Approves the Fields of the Eleventh Season
The Executive Committee of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award approved four main areas for the competitions of the Eleventh Season, which will begin this September and continue until March 2023. The four areas include Economies, Scientific Research, Fine Art, and Excellence in Giving.

The Dignitary Khalid Mohamed Kanoo, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, the Chairman of the Executive Community, stressed that the four areas came after long deliberations between the members of the Committee formed of academics with experience in the scientific field and was approached after reviewing the history of the Award and its previous successful experiences, which led to keeping some of the competitions that have positive effects on the society, and have an important impact on the path of knowledge and sciences in the Arab countries. The Dignitary pointed out that the Award in the Eleventh Season will form a specialized committee to determine the criteria for granting the Excellence Award introduced, which he confirmed will be a valuable addition to the awards presented in each season.

The Dignitary Khalid Kanoo also pointed out the endeavor of the Award’s Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee to keep abreast of all the developments in the scientific and cultural arena and to draw comparisons with similar awards given to scientists, thinkers and researchers at the world level, stressing that the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group, which has a regional presence and which sponsors the Award, has always, since its establishment, been a pioneer in the commercial work and in adopting new science and technology, for that reason it becomes necessary for the Award to reflect and embrace these trends as well.

In the Field of Economies, the Committee adopted the topic “Corona Pandemic and Economic Recovery” to encourage researchers from all the Arab countries to study the consequences of the pandemic on the global economy, with a focus on the Kingdom of Bahrain as a model. The Committee also re-included the field of scientific research in the competitions due to the success of the previous experiment in the Tenth Season, which resulted in sober scientific research papers presented by students and professors of the University of Bahrain. The Committee also decided to maintain the Fine Arts Competition due to the importance of this competition to the artistic movement in Bahrain. The Executive Committee approved granting the Excellence Award for the first time since the inception of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, which it is hoped will be awarded to a person with long-standing scientific, intellectual, or charitable contributions who has made significant contributions to his/her society, in addition to a record full of noble national stances.

The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, established 24 years ago, comes within the framework of the interest of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Commercial Group in supporting projects of public service and effective contribution to religious, cultural and humanitarian projects, supporting the path of knowledge and encouraging thinkers and scientists from the people of Bahrain and Arab countries in the fields of Islamic studies, finance, economies and business, and the various fields of science and literature. The Award holds the name of the founder of the Commercial Group, Haji Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo, in commemoration of his tribute, as he was known for his interest in knowledge and scientists and helping students of knowledge, in addition to his great contributions to humanitarian and charitable works that inure benefit for the society. Since its inception, the Award has been awarded to more than 45 scientists, researchers, academics and artists from various Arab countries.
