The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, in cooperation with Bahrain Polytechnic, launched the University Scientific Research Competition for the students of Bahrain Polytechnic in November 2022 on the topic (Technology Development in the Service of Humanity) and allocated cash prizes to the winners, amounting to a total of twenty-two thousand dollars. Eight students of both genders reached the final stage of the Competition, spending six months preparing applied scientific projects in the field of computer science and engineering, under the supervision of College professors.
The Dignitary Khalid Kanoo, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bahrain Polytechnic, and the members of the College’s Board of Trustees and the executive team supervising it, for their interest in the University Scientific Research Competition sponsored by the Award, praising the applied projects accomplished by the students that demonstrate their abilities to innovate and develop. Kanoo also emphasised that since its establishment twenty-five years ago, The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award is keen to support scientific research and encourage student and academic researchers to compete in various fields of science.
The University Scientific Research Competition is one of three competitions adopted by The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award in its Eleventh Season, which also includes the Economic Research Competition targeting the Arab researchers and the Fine Arts Competition targeting the artists in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The three competitions will conclude at the end of August 2023, and the final results will be announced at the Honourary Ceremony scheduled to be held in December 2023.
