In a gesture of appreciation reflecting loyalty and gratitude, the Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Award held a ceremony to honor the outgoing members of its Board of Trustees, recognizing their outstanding role and valuable contributions to supporting and developing the award over the years.
In his address, Mr. Nabeel Kanoo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, praised the significant role played by the honored members, emphasizing that their continuous efforts had a clear impact on raising the award's standards and expanding its scope, in addition to their academic contributions that strengthened its position in the cultural and scientific arena. He also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for their contributions during the tenure of his late father, Khalid Kanoo, acknowledging their efforts that contributed to the award's continued success.
During the ceremony, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Hashemi recounted the origins of the award, noting that it stemmed from a visit by the late Abdulaziz Kanoo and Dr. Abdul Latif Kanoo to discuss its launch, before it was officially established in 1998. He explained that the award, over more than twenty-five years, has witnessed significant developments and remarkable achievements, expressing his pride in working alongside many members of the Kanoo family throughout this journey. He also commended the efforts of the current Secretary-General, emphasizing that his outstanding performance reflects the highest levels of competence and capability, and his pivotal role in enhancing institutional performance. He concluded his remarks by wishing the new Chairman and the incoming Board of Trustees every success in continuing the path of success.
For his part, Dr. Nadhim Al-Saleh expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. Nabeel Kanoo for this generous initiative, recalling his early involvement with the award and the meetings he had with the late Khalid Kanoo. He affirmed that his eleven-year tenure as a member was among the most prominent and cherished milestones of his professional career.
Dr. Hassan Kamal expressed his gratitude to the Kanoo family for establishing this pioneering award, noting that it represents an important platform for researchers and academics in the Arab world to showcase their scientific work and encourage them to present their best ideas and experiences. He wished the new Board of Trustees continued success in carrying on this mission.
