The Dignitary Khalid Kanoo, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, confirmed that honouring the winners in the Award three fields, which are the Economic, the Scientific Research, and the Arts fields, comes as a completion of the works of the Tenth Season that began in 2019 and the culmination of the efforts of researchers and creators in the various scientific and artistic fields who were keen to participate effectively in the Award competitions and presented their works that deserve praise and appreciation, indicating that The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, since its establishment in 1998, has sought to encourage Gulf and Arab specialists in the field of science and sober scientific research papers that seeks to spread science and knowledge in society. The Dignitary Khalid Kanoo added that the field of fine art has come as a new competition among the Award competitions in its Tenth Season, seeking to include creative artists under the umbrella of the Award and to provide support for them, given the extreme importance of the arts in the human heritage. The Dignitary Khalid Kanoo thanked the Award’s Board of Trustees for their tireless work throughout the Tenth Season and their keenness to supervise the evaluation committees and provide support for their work.
During the Ceremony, Dr Nadhem Al-Saleh, a member of the Award’s Board of Trustees, gave a speech on behalf of the members of the Board of Trustees, in which he thanked the Kanoo Family’s initiative for paying attention to science, culture and arts through The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, and congratulated the winners in the Tenth Season and praised their efforts in preparing scientific research papers that received advanced degrees in evaluation. Dr Al-Saleh also spoke about the feats of the late Professor Mubarak Al Atwi, the former Secretary General of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, and touched on many of his achievements during the years of his work.
The Ceremony included honouring local newspapers, the Bahraini Journalists Association, and the University of Bahrain, which are the entities that supported the Award and cooperated with it by highlighting and shedding light on its activities and contributed to participating in the evaluation committees.
The researcher Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Shalabi won First Place Award in the Field of Economies, worth 30 thousand dollars, Riyad Mahmoud Mohammed won First Place Award in the field of Scientific Researcher, worth 10,000 dollars, and Ahmed Abdul Redha Saleh won First Place Award in the field of Fine Arts, worth 10,000 dollars, Bader Abdul Hussein Abdulla, Adel Salem AlThawadi, Samira Saeed, Habib AlKhabbaz, Sayed Ahmed AlWadaei, and Sayed Redha Hadi won the other places, with financial prizes ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 dollars.
The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, established in 1998, comes within the framework of the interest of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Commercial Group in supporting projects of public service and effective contribution to religious, cultural and humanitarian projects, supporting the path of knowledge and encouraging thinkers and scientists from the people of Bahrain and Arab countries in the fields of Islamic studies, finance, economies and business, and the various fields of science and literature. The Award holds the name of the founder of the Commercial Group, Haji Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo, in commemoration of his tribute, as he was known for his interest in knowledge and scientists and helping students of knowledge, in addition to his great contributions to humanitarian and charitable works that inure benefit for the society.
