New Board of Trustees for The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award
The Dignitary Khalid Mohamed Kanoo, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, announced the restructuring of the Board of Trustees of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award for the years 2022-2025.

The new Board of Trustees is joined by prominent figures known for their numerous contributions in the scientific and cultural fields at the level of the Arab Gulf, including Professor of Anthropology, Dr Abdulla Abdulrahman Yateem, the Assistant Undersecretary for Culture, National Heritage, former Assistant Undersecretary for Press and Publications, and recipient of the Order of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, as well as the Professor of Water Resources at the Arabian Gulf University, Vice President of the Gulf Water Science and Technology Association, Dr Waleed Khalil Zubari.

The Dignitary Khalid Kanoo expressed his optimism that a constellation of distinguished academics joined the Board of Trustees of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, who are being relied upon to move the Award to broader prospects and achieve the new Vision for the Award, which includes seeking to shed light on the works of young researchers and creators and diversify the Award’s competitions and topics. The Dignitary Khalid Kanoo confirmed that The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, since its establishment in 1998, has been keen to support scientific, cultural and artistic initiatives whether in the Arabian Gulf or at the level of the Arab countries, stressing that the Award, thanks to its organizers, has become a symbol of scientific excellence in the Arab world and has a great status among the awards that celebrate science, culture and arts. Khalid Kanoo thanked the members of the new Board of Trustees for their acceptance to join the Board and their keenness on the continuation of the Award and its development, wishing the members of the previous Board of Trustees success in appreciation of the great efforts they made in the past Seasons.

The new formation of the Board of Trustees of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award for the years 2022-2025 is also joined by new members of the Kanoo Family, namely Mr Ali Abdulla Kanoo and Miss Safeya Fawzi Kanoo, who are interested in economic affairs and technology. The well-known businesswoman Mona Mubarak Kanoo, who is interested in issues of the environment, women, and youth, and the distinguished academics, Dr Ibrahim Jamal Al Hashemi, President of the University of Bahrain, President of the Arabian Gulf University, and former member of the Shura Council, and Dr Nadhem Saleh Al-Saleh, Professor of Economics and Finance, and economic expert, all retain their seats in the new formation.

The new Board of Trustees is awaiting an agenda that includes the launch of the Eleventh Edition of the Award and the selection of topics for the Award competitions that keep pace with the era, and the formation of working committees whose mission is to supervise the evaluation of the participants’ contributions, in addition to following up on the implementation of the Award’s Vision that was approved in the previous year.

The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award, established in 1998, comes within the framework of the interest of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Commercial Group in supporting projects of public service and effective contribution to religious, cultural and humanitarian projects, supporting the path of knowledge and encouraging thinkers and scientists from the people of Bahrain and Arab countries in the fields of Islamic studies, finance, economies and business, and the various fields of science and literature. The Award holds the name of the founder of the Commercial Group, Haji Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo, in commemoration of his tribute, as he was known for his interest in knowledge and scientists and helping students of knowledge, in addition to his great contributions to humanitarian and charitable works that inure benefit for the society.
