The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award Prepares for the Announcement of New Competition
The Executive Committee of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award held a follow-up meeting on the progress of the Award competitions for the Eleventh Season, which was previously announced, and discussed the requirements of the Fine Arts Competition scheduled to be launched at the end of this month. The meeting was chaired by Mrs Mona Mubarak, the Vice-chairperson of the Award’s Board of Trustees, and in the presence of members of the Executive Committee, Dr Ibrahim AlHashemi, Dr Nadhem Al-Saleh, Dr Abdulla Yateem, and Dr Waleed Zubari.

During the meeting, the members reviewed the names nominated for the Judging Committee of the Economic Competition (Corona Pandemic and Economic Recovery), which has a cash prize of 30 thousand dollars, and is directed to researchers in economic affairs in all the Arab countries. 

The members also discussed the latest developments in the Scientific Research Competition for university students sponsored by the Award, which came in cooperation with Bahrain Polytechnic, the academic institution known for the quality and efficiency of applied education that keeps pace with the era. 

In addition, the requirements for the Fine Arts Competition were approved, which this time will focus on the achievements of Bahraini women, and it was agreed to announce the details of the new competition by the end of February 2023, provided that the contestants will be given a sufficient period to submit their artistic works.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Award, the Dignitary Khalid Mohamed Kanoo, confirmed that the Executive Committee, through its periodic meetings, is keen to come up with the best recommendations that are in the interest of the Award, appreciating the role of the members of the Executive Committee in following up and supervising the work and activities of the Award and coming up with thoughtful recommendations that help the Board of Trustees of the Award in making decisions, which lever the work of the Award and maintain its good reputation and the distinguished position it has achieved.

The Dignitary Khalid Kanoo also emphasized the keenness of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award to encourage scientific research through the competitions it recently launched, as scientific research has utmost importance in arriving at new scientific concepts and innovations that benefit societies and contribute to their development. He added that the interest in scientific research is also paralleled by the interest in the arts, which are considered a mirror of the progress and advancement of peoples. Therefore, The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award is keen to present an arts competition in its successive seasons to encourage and support the artistic movement.

The idea of the Award came as an embodiment of the thoughts and ambitions of the Dignitary Ahmed Bin Ali Kanoo, may Allah have mercy on him, who served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group of Companies for the period (1952-1997), so that it holds the name of the first founder of the group, Hajii Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo, may Allah have mercy on him, in commemoration of his tribute. The Award’s Board of Trustees is currently headed by the Dignitary Khalid bin Mohamed Kanoo, who is carrying with him the project of developing the Award with a comprehensive vision that aims to encourage creative youth groups to take an interest in science and culture. 47 participants won the Award until the Tenth Season.
