The book consists of four Titles and a conclusion, and each Title has a number of topics. It contains an appendix of pictures and figures, an index of scientific terms, an index of notable figures, a list of the sources that includes scientific references, translated books, and forty titles, in addition to a number of periodicals and daily newspapers. The book contains 528 pages.
With the publication of the book (Efforts of Muslim Scholars in the Advancement of Human Civilisation) by The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Award for Excellence and Creativity, the cultural arena witnessed great impetus with the research it contained highlighting the value of Islamic civilisation in the advancement of human civilisation as a whole.
The book touched on the characteristics of Islamic civilisation, indicating that it is integrated in that it contains values and scientific inclination, as Muslim scholars did not leave any section of knowledge without getting familiar with it in research and writing. Also, among the characteristics of Muslim civilisation is the correlation between knowledge and work, knowing the value of time, and abundant scientific production in all sciences and knowledge, and this confirms the exploitation and investment of time by Muslim scholars.
The book stated that among the characteristics of our Islamic civilisation are the organisation of relationships and the freedom that has made minds creative and productive, in addition to humanism and fairness.
The author stated that among the efforts of Muslim scholars in advancing civilisation is the experimental scientific method that was originally established by Muslim scholars, and it depends on induction, measurement, observation, activating the role of the senses linked to the mind, and linking between knowledge and religion. He demonstrated clear applications in the experimental method according to Ibn al-Haytham, the famous scientist, Al-Khwarizmi, the scientist of algebra and mathematics, and Ibn Khaldun’s experience in establishing the basics of sociology. The author revealed that today's civilisation (Contemporary Civilisation) has not departed from that approach drawn up by Muslim scholars who excelled in it, despite the tremendous scientific progress and the communications revolution.
The book touched on the Islamic sciences, mentioning (Medicine and Pharmacy), (Embryology), (Dentistry), (Sterilisation), (Skin Diseases), (Epidemics and Infections), and (Psychiatry).
During his talk in this Title of the book, he referred to the hospitals of the Muslims and their most famous and places. He mentioned the most important doctors and pharmacists and explained the connection of (astronomy) with Muslim scholars, their astronomical achievements, and the most important astronomers and their efforts. He then explained the influence of the nation's scholars on (the science of geography) and geographical machines, and then he revealed the ability of Muslims in expanding their science of chemistry, systematic chemistry, the chemical tools and devices and mentioned how they developed them, the most famous Muslim chemists and industrial chemistry. He also highlighted the efforts of the nation's scientists in physics, the law of gravitation, mathematics, the most prominent mathematicians and engineering scientists, and searched in biology, botany, zoology, veterinary medicine, and mechanics.
The author elaborated on the impact of Islamic sciences in Europe, indicating that they passed through Andalusia, Sicily, and the Crusades. He pointed out that many people in Europe ignored this surge of civilization that was caused by the people of Islam, explaining the fairness of some of them to the civilization of Islam.
This book is considered a strong, positive and effective addition to enriching culture in general, as it highlights the tremendous efforts of Muslim scholars in the advancement of human civilization.
