Invitation To Participate in The Fine Arts Competition

Preserving the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities is one of the Kingdom’s most prominent urban concerns, which the wise leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches great importance to. His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has directed the development of an action plan to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities. In line with the royal directives and as a contribution to raising awareness of the importance of preserving the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s cities, the Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Award launches its competition in the field of fine arts for the 12th edition under the theme “The Cultural Identity of Urbanism in the Kingdom of Bahrain: A Visual Testimony” and invites Bahraini artists to participate in it using various media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video and graphic design.

Submission Requirements:

  1. The participant must be a Bahraini National.
  2. The work must be original and not copied.
  3. The height of the artwork must not exceed 120 cm.
  4. The duration of the artwork, if it was a video, must not exceed 90 seconds.  
  5. The artwork must be ready for display in art exhibitions.
  6. The artwork must not have previously participated in other art competitions.
  7. The artwork must constitute a creative visual testimony and an artistic summary of the historical and cultural identity of local architecture.
  8. The visual treatment of the artwork must be unconventional/innovative.
  9. Attach a CV including your personal number and a recent printed personal photo with the artwork submission.


Cash prizes:

First place: $ 10,000          Second place: $ 7,000          Third place: $ 5,000
